2023 marks the 125th anniversary of Japanese machine tool manufacturer Okuma as well as the 60th birthday of its in-house manufactured CNC system, OSP. In celebration of these milestones, an open house will be held at the group’s European headquarters in Krefeld, Germany, from 21st to 23rd November. There will be guided tours in English and German, live machining sessions and new equipment presentations. Anyone wishing to attend the free event is invited to register at openhouse2023.okuma.eu
Norbert Teeuwen, managing director of Okuma Europe GmbH explained, “At the open house we will show our guests how they can use the potential of our innovative machines in the areas of automation and sustainability. In order to focus on the increasingly important subject of decarbonisation and at the same time raise production efficiency, Okuma already provides advanced, energy-saving technologies.”
The new-generation OSP-P500 control makes a major contribution to the challenge of sustainability. Sixty years after the market launch of Okuma’s first CNC system, the latest version provides numerous advances as well as intelligent features and functions. They include the integration of Eco Suite Plus, enabling companies to benefit from reduced resource consumption and lower CO2 emissions.
Additionally, the OSP-P500 meets the most stringent security requirements. A comprehensive security system protects the machine control as well as the processes, programmes and data from cyber attacks. Moreover, due to the ease of operation and convenient user interface, even inexperienced users can become conversant with the control and start producing workpieces independently within one day.
In the large showroom at the European headquarters, Okuma will present a range of machines. Visitors will see several innovations, including the powerful MULTUS U3000 multitasking machine and the MU-6300V machining centre for complex machining operations. Another highlight will be the GENOS L2000-e, an entry-level lathe capable of powerful machining equipped with Okuma’s new automation solution, Okuma Robot Cell Minitend.
In the UK and Ireland, the sole sales and service agent for Okuma machine tools and automation is NCMT (www.ncmt.co.uk)
