Recently announced by Elmo Motion Control and available with full support from UK distribution partnerbHeason Technology, the new Platinum Line of advanced servo drives combine ultra-fast EtherCAT™ networking, exceptional functional safety and an advanced servo control capability that will enable unprecedented levels of machine performance for OEMs. As a compelling choice for machine automation applications where manufacturing precision, integration flexibility and enhanced production throughput are primary considerations, Elmo’s new Platinum Line covers four intelligent drive designs with various single- and multi-axis servo
capability for qualitative power levels up to 5.5 kW. Termed by Elmo Motion Control as safer, smarter, smaller and simpler intelligent drives, they offer industry leading servo cycling times with negligible jitter and latency, and together with wide bandwidth control they suit extremely precise motion positioning and event synchronisation tasks. This processing capability is channelled through EtherCAT with cycling down to 100 microseconds for demanding applications such as industrial and medical laser processing, scanning systems, materials handling, high-speed pick and place equipment, printing, labelling and packaging machinery etc.
Equipped with IEC 61800-5-2 SIL-3, Cat4 PL-e, the Platinum Line also includes the world’s highest-level functional safety over EtherCAT (FSoE) certifications in addition to smart functional safety features such as over-the-network safety and optional safety IOs supported by Elmo’s advanced safety software. Furthermore, the new Line includes advanced features such as multiple
servo feedback with two absolute encoders or up to three encoders simultaneously working
together.
Elmo Motion Control’s new EASII 2.7 application studio software takes care of EtherCAT configuration, motion configuration, drive tuning, parameter recording, monitoring, and much more. As a major designer and manufacturer of servo drives and advanced network motion controllers Elmo Motion Control’s products feature motion industry leading power and intelligence densities and are widely used in military and aerospace as well as challenging machine automation tasks in industry and research. Heason Technology has worked closely on numerous projects with Elmo Motion Control over several years as part of the West Sussex based system integrator’s in house design and build competency where the new drives can be specified as an integral part of high precision motion systems that typically comprise custom designed or standard positioning mechanics and motion controls for a wide range of applications across industry, research and defence.
