Ceratizit UK & Ireland is happy to report a tremendous uptake of its offer for free test tools, heavily discounted production tools and, technical support for those companies involved in the manufacture of ventilator and other related diagnostic equipment for the National Health Service during the current Covid-19 pandemic.
Customers ranging from leading Formula One teams right through the supply chain have approached Ceratizit UK & Ireland to request support for their production, with over 20 customers so far benefitting from the cutting tool discount of 70 per cent and, whatever technical support they need to maximise the potential of those tools. “The number of customers that we are able to help is increasing day-by-day,” says Tony Pennington, Managing Director, Ceratizit UK & Ireland. “It is testament to the versatility and ingenuity of the UK manufacturing base that they are able to quickly switch from machining parts for racing cars and aircraft to components that are going to help save lives. For many it means working with materials that they may not be familiar with, which is where we can add our experience to the mix through our technical sales engineering team.”
Technical support is being provided remotely by Ceratizit UK & Ireland’s applications and technical sales engineers, with over 30 engineers available to answer customer questions relating to cutting tool data and application. For example, Ceratizit’s Industry Solutions Engineer Michael May and Technical Sales Engineer Bob Thompson, have been combining their knowledge to support one customer from the motorsport sector, which is working as part of the UK Government’s Ventilator Challenge UK project. “Initially, the request was for high performance drills to produce holes up to 16xD in aluminium and steel. We were then asked to develop our support through the provision of AluLine end mills and PCR-ALU plunge milling cutters,” says Michael May.
The offer from Ceratizit UK & Ireland is open to any company manufacturing parts for ventilator or associated diagnostic equipment. “We are happy to do whatever we can to assist in this challenge to support the frontline staff within the NHS and, by working together we can help to reduce the impact it is having,” Tony Pennington, Managing Director, Ceratizit UK & Ireland. “As an industry we are well placed to help lead that fight, so our offer of help for any manufacturing company involved in the production of ventilator and associated diagnostic equipment will remain in place for as long as it is needed. If you need our help it is there for you.”
