Educational technology is the process of integrating technology into education to promote a more diverse learning environment. The LearnED Roadshow is a collaborative effort between BESA and the Department for Education (DfE), consisting of 8 UK-wide events, to encourage teachers to utilise EdTech in their classrooms.
Gratnells are supporting the initiative and the shows by providing three Callero trolleys, a PowerTrolley and PowerTray2. The first event took place last November in Rotherham with the next stop on the tour, Newcastle, taking place at the end of January.
Specially designed to work flexibly as either standalone units or in combinations, the Gratnells Callero range brings flexibility to any environment requiring modular storage. PowerTray2 is a multi-device USB charging station designed as a revolutionary piece of mobile furniture, to provide intelligent charging for up to 10 devices simultaneously and with an optimum charge rate for each device.
Education Secretary Damian Hinds recently challenged the technology industry to help school leaders access the types of technologies that will support future students.
The LearnEd Roadshow is designed to meet this need and inform school decision-makers. Each event will feature peer-to-peer panel discussions and DfE keynote speakers. The overall aim is to improve teaching and learning outcomes, supporting leadership and management across the entire school environment.
Caroline Wright, Director General of BESA, said “There are many examples of Ministries of Education across the world evangelising about the revolutionary potential of education technology, often supplied by UK companies. It’s very welcome that our own Department for Education is now setting out a vision for EdTech that, if realised could have a ground-breaking impact upon its implementation worldwide”.
Historically known as the leading name in school storage in over 68 countries of the world, and the producer of the iconic Gratnells Tray, the company has developed into a manufacturer capable of providing high-volume laser cutting, powder coating and bespoke metal solutions for a wide range of educational requirements and solutions.
The Harlow-based business has recently provided school students with experiences such as tours of their impressive facilities – including the chance to see some of the exciting Powder Coating, Injection Moulding and Laser Cutting machinery that produces the classroom tools and equipment they see and use every day.
Richard Picking, International Marketing Director at Gratnells, commented, “We are delighted to support the LearnEd Roadshow and hope to inspire schools to use the fantastic technology currently available to them. We are excited about the future and continue to develop solutions that aid collaborative working, particularly in STEM and STEAM learning environments”.
Attendance at LearnEd Roadshows is free and on a first-come, first-served basis. The next event is scheduled for Newcastle Racecourse and Conference Centre on Friday 18th January 2019.
