On the 20th November the University of Wolverhampton will be hosting a live machining demonstration at its ground breaking Telford Innovation Campus. The primary aim of this event will be to bring students, academics and industry experts together to demonstrate the existing relationships the University has with industry.
The event will also demonstrate how these relationships can be exploited to promote Industrial Problem Solving, Upskilling, Graduate Recruitment and apprenticeships as well as the research opportunities that will drive the next generation of engineers and innovators.
In collaboration with technical partners Hurco, Autodesk and Tungaloy, the University of Wolverhampton will host the technical demonstration day with a live machining demonstration of an aerospace bracket. The complex EN24 steel component will be machined on a Hurco VMX42HSRTi 5-axis machining centre utilising Autodesk CAM software and cutting tools from Tungaloy. From a Tungaloy perspective, the demonstration will introduce the very latest DoFeed, DoTwistBall with the new HJ high-feed breaker, the TungRec, TungMeister and many more products from the Tungaloy portfolio. These groundbreaking tooling technologies are currently being applied at leading aerospace, automotive, power generation and general subcontract manufacturing businesses.
The Tungaloy Corporation has allowed Tungaloy UK to demonstrate TungForceFeed, a small-diameter High Feed indexable Milling Cutter with tool bodies from 8 to 16mm. This product will not be launched to the world market until December, so this will be the first time TungForceFeed has been seen or used outside of the R&D dept in Japan.
In addition to live machining demonstrations, the event will have a welcoming address from Dr Syed Hasan, the Head of the School of Engineering at University of Wolverhampton, an opportunity to meet the project partners that include Autodesk, Hurco and Tungaloy UK, a presentation from Autodesk on the Future of British Manufacturing Initiative and of course, an opportunity to meet the academics and students at the heart of this impressive beacon of academic manufacturing technology.
