What happened? First of all, it looked like a routine job, which consisted of repairing a drive shaft. Due to the fact that Spindledoctor did not yet know the machine (which was from the year 2000), an unusual amount of consideration was required in this case. Luckily, they love the challenge and enjoy thinking outside the box. Their first step was to request extensive design drawings from the manufacturer Kolb, which they found did not exactly correspond to the machine that was being worked on. The result: The new collet did not fit properly, which meant they had to modify and rebuild it. Unfortunately the vertical head was damaged.
Spindeldoctor, however, would not be Spindeldoctor if they let this problem beat them.
Because Spindeldoctor maintain the best contacts with many manufacturers, a solution was found through interdisciplinary thinking and teamwork . In this case, they were helped by Kolb, who created a more up-to-date drawing. On location Spindeldoctor worked directly with a technician from Kolb and brought the machine back into operation. Together.
This ‘Super-Team’ pulled out all the stops for another contented customer, who is active in gear construction and manufactures the transmissions for trucks and the drives for wind turbines, amoungst other things.
