XYZ Machine Tools has announced the appointment of two new Area Sales Managers and an additional Sales Engineer to strengthen its team at an exciting time for the Devon based machine tool company. The three new appointments are Chris Jones, Dave Rawson and Lloyd Pennington and they bring to XYZ a wide range of experience gained in manufacturing environments and capital equipment sales. With the recent arrival of XYZ’s fully simultaneous five-axis gantry machining centre, the LR series of vertical machining centres and with other machine developments in the pipeline the three recruits will have plenty to discuss with their customers.
Dave Rawson brings to XYZ his experience gained on the shopfloor as a machinist/programmer and, more latterly, that gained in capital equipment sales with a leading supplier of sliding head lathes. Made aware of the vacancy by a friend in the industry, Dave visited XYZ in Devon for an interview and was immediately convinced that a move to XYZ would be a great career opportunity. “I hadn’t visited XYZ before and walking through the door of the factory in Devon was an eye-opener. The range of machines, the people and the sheer scale of the business convinced me that this would be a terrific move.” As Area Sales Manager, Dave will be supporting customers across East Anglia, Essex, North and West London areas.
The second Area Sales Manager is Lloyd Pennington who has been involved in the engineering manufacture and design sector for almost as long as he can remember. This early start led to a career that involved the design and build of machine tools, and working across industries such as nuclear, marine and automotive. “This is my first role in direct machine tool sales but I am confident that with my experience and the training from XYZ will allow me to talk to customers about all elements surrounding capital equipment.” Lloyd’s area covers the North Home Counties and part of the M40 corridor.
Chris Jones joins XYZ as a Sales Engineer from a background of machine tools sales in the laser profiling sector, having worked for the two leading manufacturers of this equipment. The opportunity to move over to metal cutting machines with XYZ Machine Tools was one that appealed to Chris due to the reputation of XYZ. “I have experience of XYZ machines as my Dad used them and their reputation in the market is excellent. Combine that with the new machines that are being introduced and I see this as a great opportunity to be part of the next chapter in the XYZ success story.” Chris will be responsible for sales within the West Midlands region, working alongside existing Area Sales Manager Martin Leaper to assist with the growth seen in the area.
“Dave, Lloyd and Chris are joining the company at an exciting period in its development. We continue to expand our portfolio of machines, introduce new levels of technology, while remaining faithful to our core business and the success that this has brought us,” says Nigel Atherton, Managing Director, XYZ Machine Tools.
