Precision Micro is pleased to announce that it will be participating at the upcoming Medtec Europe trade show, 4-6 April in Stuttgart, Germany.
The company will be tailoring its exhibit at Medtec Europe to show off exactly what can be achieved when using photo-etching for medical applications.
A specialist sheet metal machining technology, Photo-etching uses low-cost digital photo-tooling, photo-resist and etchants to chemically remove selected areas of the sheet, burr-free, stress-free and to tolerances measured in the 1/100mm range. The process is suitable for a wide range of metals, including medical grade alloys which exhibit high strength-to-weight ratio, biocompatibility and corrosion resistance, attributes which make them difficult to machine using traditional metalworking technologies.
Front and centre, the company will display titanium etched products and components, made possible following a €1million investment in what is thought to be Europe’s first prototype to production titanium etching line. 2016 saw unprecedented interest from attendees at Medtec Europe in photo-etched titanium implants — such as craniomaxillofacial (CMF) meshes and anode and cathode current collector grids used in pacemaker batteries — parts which previously could only be sourced from outside of Europe, with long lead-times and at high prices.
From the fourth quarter of 2017 onwards, a CMF development contract, which was acquired at Medtec 2016, will be transferred to serial production.
Precision Micro will also exhibit the wide range of products it produces for numerous medical blue-chips and OEMs, including microelectronics components such as connectors, contacts, springs and meshes for hearing aids, and medical instruments including bone saws used for knee and hip implants.
