igus now offers fully assembled dress-packs for rapid replacement of energy chain systems on welding robots. A custom designed, drop-in replacement, these complete solutions can be connected quickly and easily to the robot, thereby minimising production downtime.
“Time is critical in highly automated plants, such as automotive production,” says Justin Leonard, the-chain director, igus. “If production stops, the costs are huge. Pre-assembled systems help to keep maintenance and assembly work as low as possible.”
For this reason, igus offers ready-to-install standard dress-packs for welding robots. These packs consist of a multi-axis triflex R energy chain, filled with chainflex cables and hoses for supplying energy, data and other media. The standard dress-packs can then be adapted to customers’ individual requirements: different bus systems can be selected, as well as preferred hose manufacturer and a wide range of cable cross sections. It is also possible to have the cables harnessed directly by igus according to 24 manufacturer standards, including Stäubli, Yaskawa Motoman, Universal Robot and Kawasaki, with original plug connectors.
Using QuickRobot (www.igus.co.uk/quickrobot), an easy-to-use online configurator, the right solution can be selected from over 2,000 options and ordered with just a few clicks by specifying the robot manufacturer and the model series. On request, igus supplies suitable retraction systems to guide the energy chains with constant tension to the end of the robot arm, and also offers the onsite installation. In addition, igus produces all components of the energy chain system from a single source and its reliability is backed by a 36-month guarantee.
