Yamazaki Mazak’s new CV5-500 entry-level 5-axis machining centre is being given its UK debut at EMO Encore in December.
The Open House, which is being held at Mazak’s European Technology Centre in Worcester from the 3rd to the 5th December 2019, will showcase 26 machines in total.
The star of the show is the UK launch of the CV5-500, a new fully simultaneous 5-axis machine developed in the UK for European machine users engaged in, or aspiring to, 5-axis machining. The machine, which is being brought to market at a highly competitive price point, has a high-rigidity bridge construction with a fully supported trunnion table, which delivers an accurate and extremely compact machining solution.
It is equipped with a new versatile 12,000 rpm spindle, capable of a peak performance of 18.5 kW and 119.4 Nm, making it highly suitable for a wide range of materials. Crucially, the machine has a compact footprint, making it ideal for smaller machine shops, and it can also be easily automated with a side-loading door and robot interface. The CV5-500 is equipped with SmoothX CNC, Mazak’s specialist 5-axis version of its SMOOTH Technology.
The new INTEGREX i-H series, the latest generation of Mazak’s flagship Multi-Tasking machine range, combines reduced floorspace with increased working capacity, operator access and ergonomics. The i-H series, which incorporates Ken Okuyama KOD design, prioritises ease of operation, automation and ergonomics.
The standout machine at EMO Encore is the new INTEGREX i-200H ST. It is equipped with a second spindle, a newly designed lower turret and multiple turning and milling spindle specifications. In addition, the new machine is equipped with a new CNC, SmoothAi, Mazak’s new artificial intelligence control.
At the core of SmoothAi are three core capabilities, machine learning delivered by the application of artificial intelligence; digital twinning and automation. This combination enables the machine to learn from a variety of information sources, including the operator, previous cutting processes and environmental data input – ultimately delivering cycle-time reduction, cutting surface improvement, ease of operation and automation.
Mazak will also be giving UK launches to two new specialist gear cutting and measurement machines with the highlight being the new INTEGREX e-1250 V/8S AG. The AG series, which stands for Auto Gear, are high-specification machines with specialist hardware, unique software and metrology, which in combination produce highly accurate gears compared to conventional CNC machining.
At the core of the machines is the INTEGREX AG Software, which includes three SMOOTH Gear Cutting Solutions – Smooth Gear Skiving, Smooth Gear Hobbing and Smooth Gear Milling. These solutions enable the easy programming by conversational input of gear data in under 10 minutes, without the need for 3D models or CADCAM software.
EMO Encore will also include a specialist laser Open House featuring the OPTIPLEX 3015 FIBER III
laser equipped with advanced Multi-Control Torch and Intelligent Functions. The 8.0 kW fiber laser is ideal for cutting thick material, such as stainless steel and aluminium, and is equally adept at cutting thin worksheets due to the power of its resonator and machine acceleration.
Alan Mucklow, Managing Director UK and Ireland Sales and Service Division at Yamazaki Mazak, commented: “EMO Encore is traditionally our opportunity to bring back the best of Hannover for UK machine users. The new CV5-500 is the standout machine this time, further developing our capabilities in 5-axis machining, with a price point that offers a real opportunity for those with the ambition to move into more complex machining processes. However, our other machines, many of them making their UK debuts, such as the INTEGREX i-H series and the AG Series of gear cutting machines, deserve enormous attention and I would encourage all UK machine users to put the 3rd to the 5th December in their calendar.”
